Kejriwal orders to move the migrant workers to shelter homes asap who are living under flyover near Yamuna

Nationwide lockdown since 24th of March have set-off difficulty for many daily wage workers who turned unemployed overnight. This lockdown was meant for safety of the nation but this created panic between many migrant. The image of migrants gathering under flyover in open had gone viral, which lashed out the idea of central government of announcing lockdown within 4 hours of notice. Just after this image got viral, Kejriwal took a note of it. With no penny left and no facility of food and accommodation the daily wage workers tried to violate the norms of lockdown to go back to their native places. Delhi’s Anand Vihar station and Mumbai’s Bandra station witnessed hundreds of migrants who thought they will get a bus or train to go back to their hometowns.

Some migrants took shelter under a flyover near Yamuna Ghat during lockdown as they lacked shelter and food. CM Arvind Kejriwal ordered on Wednesday to vacate that place and to shift these migrants as arrangements have been done to provide them with food and shelter. This move follows the media reports about this dangerous situation of migrants who are risking their lives in the wake of this pandemic. Media reported many migrants who didn’t have any facility and in very bad conditions risking their lives. Due to these reasons many of them tried to escape the cities violating the lockdown.

CM Kejriwal on his twitter handle, thanked the media and press for making others aware of this plight and said that there won’t be shortage of food and shelter for those who gathered near Yamuna banks. On another tweet he told how government is taking care of poor. Government is providing over 10 lakh people with food and over 75 lakh with free-ration.
The total number of corona positive cases have reached upto 1,578 and 17 new cases and 2 deaths on Wednesday.The total death troll have reached to 32.
