Manish Sisodia gets additional charge of Health Ministry after Satyendar Jain tested positive for Covid-19

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister ‘Manish Sisodia‘ has been given the additional charge of the health department as the Health Minister of Delhi
Satyendar Jain‘ tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday and being treated in hospital.

Manish Sisodia will take charge of the departments that are handled by Health Minister Satyendar Jain as well along with his own responsibilities.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, each day after he was admitted to a hospital with a high fever and suffering a sudden drop in oxygen level in the body.

After the minister tested positive on Wednesday, Delhi government began searching and enquiring the people who interacted with him in the last a couple of days and contact them for knowing whether they have any symptoms of covid-19.

Warning them to be conscious about health and safety.

On Sunday, the 55-year-old minister had attended a high-level meeting on coronavirus situation in the national capital, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in which Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal, Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also attended to this meeting.

Jain was brought to the Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital (RGSSH) on Tuesday morning and was administered a test for novel coronavirus infection that morning, for which he tested negative.

In a tweet on Tuesday morning, soon after the news broke out of Satyendar Jain has been admitted to a Delhi hospital, Kejriwal said, “You have been working for the people day and night, without a care for your own health. Please take care of your well-being and get well soon.”

But with the media, the officials said that “He was still running a fever and showing symptoms, so we had decided to run another test on Wednesday, after 24 hours of the primary test,” a senior official said.

He tested positive on Wednesday and is kept on a ventilator as it would be a good treatment for covid-19 the official said.

Doctors at the RGSSH said his condition is “stable” but he has been put on oxygen support as it would be safe to do so.

May be within a week government will gather the information of all the people who had moved along with Satyendar Jain and conducts covid-19 test for them. This helps in preventing the spread of covid-19 to the people around them.
