New updates have come up regarding The Sushant Singh Rajput Drug case. The Hindu reported that the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) filed an 11,700-page charge sheet against 33 people, including Rhea and Brother Showik Chakraborty, in an alleged drug smuggling case.
Among the 33 accused, eight are presently in judicial custody while the rest are out on bail.
The police case, which led to the money laundering probe initiated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), was lodged by the late actor’s father, Krishna Kumar Singh. He accused Rhea Chakraborty and others of criminal conspiracy, theft and confinement after the untimely demise of the actor. Central Bureau of Investigation later took over the case.
In September of 2020, during the NCB investigation, Rhea and her brother were arrested along with a few of the others.
The Hindu reported, “The NCB official said the case was thoroughly investigated on the basis of seizures effected from accused persons, voluntary disclosure statements and technical evidence, that is, connectivity through call details, WhatsApp chats, details of bank accounts/ financial transactions, and other oral and documentary proof.”
The late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, started his career with a debut in ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’ (2008), a romantic drama television serial that aired on Star Plus. He later went on to gain fame through a lead role in the popular Zee TV serial ‘Pavitra Rishta’.
Sushant made his name in the film industry through successful movies like ‘Kai Po Che’ (2013), ‘PK’ (2014), and a titular role in the biopic of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
Sushant died of asphyxia due to hanging on the 14th of June, 2020. The cause of his death was ruled to have been suicide, and the case led to the revelation of names of a few film industry personalities involved in drug peddling and consumption.
