‘OMG 2’, which stars Akshay Kumar, has been making headlines lately for all the wrong reasons. After receiving criticism over the Adipurush and Oppenheimer controversy, the Central Board of Film Certification has become more cautious when certifying films. ‘OMG 2’ was shown to the Censor Board’s reviewing committee, and Prasoon Joshi, the board’s chair, also saw the movie. ‘OMG 2’ has finally received an A certificate without any cuts after all this reviewing and a conflict that lasted two weeks. Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam play lead roles in the movie. The creators have changed about 25 scenes, dialogues, and character traits following extensive discussion with the board.
According to reports, the producers were arguing with the CBFC for a U/A certificate, but the Revising Committee demanded significant cuts for the same. According to a source, “The committee was demanding a lot of cuts for a UA certificate. The filmmakers did not want to violate the film’s integrity. Therefore, they decided to go with an adult’s certification while maintaining the integrity of the movie and also adhering to and respecting the censor board’s rules.
According to the reports, the movie will be delayed from its original August 11 release date because of the censorship situation. However, the team is currently preparing for a very aggressive marketing campaign, and the UA-certified trailer should be made public in a few days.
The movie encountered yet another controversy when a priest from the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain demanded that some of the scenes that were shot on the grounds of the shrine be removed. He claimed that if their demands are not met, the viewers will start protests across the nation because the movie might hurt their religious feelings.
