Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the 125-day campaign of Atma Nirbhar UP Rojgar Abhiyan, a part of Gareeb Kalyan Rozgar Scheme, with the presence of Adityanath Yogi via Video conferencing.
The initiative tries to promote local entrepreneurship and create opportunities for the various migrants that have travelled back to Uttar Pradesh due to coronavirus pandemic.
In his speech, he praised Yogi initiatives as well as the capacity of Uttar Pradesh to contain the virus. “I salute the people of Uttar Pradesh. All of you have set an example for the world,” he added. He said that all workers of UP had a role to play and helped infighting of the virus and protecting the mass population of the state. He urged other states to follow the same leadership pattern to turn the difficult time into an opportunity.
The government has prepared a skill map of all the migrant workers in the state, most of them working as construction workers. The map accommodates working of about 3 lakh workers. Spread over 31 districts, these migrants are tailors, sweepers, weavers, mineworkers amongst many more.
Many of them will be provided tool kits and other required items in order to provide employment and opportunities to these migrants.
All this is an initiative by PM Modi to make Indians Self reliant amid COVID-19 pandemic.
