Train Accident in Aurangabad, 16 migrants got killed

On Early morning on Friday, a train accident happened at Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district where 16 migrants were cut down by an empty cargo train. While 14 of them were dead, 2 of them just give away in injuries.

These migrants were sleeping on a railway line, who wanted to go back to Madhya Pradesh, where this incident happened between Badnapur and Karmad.
Inspector Satish Khetmalas of Aurangabad rural police said that migrants must have slept on tracks because of the exhaust.

He said “All the 20 workers were walking from Jalna to Bhusawal, which is about 150 kilometres. They stopped after walking for about 45 kilometres for some rest and fell asleep on the tracks. A goods train ran over them at around 5.15 am”.

Ch Rakesh, Chief public relations office of South Central railway said that “The loco pilot noticed some persons along the tracks. He honked and also tried to stop the train but failed to contain the speed before hitting those lying on the tracks”.

After this incident Railway Ministry tweeted about informing this incident. They tweeted, “During early hours today after seeing some labourers on track, loco pilot of goods train tried to stop the train but eventually hit them between Badnapur and Karmad stations in Parbhani-Manmad section. Injured have been taken to Aurangabad Civil Hospital. The inquiry has been ordered.”

PM Narendra Modi also tweeted about this incident saying, “Extremely anguished by the loss of lives due to the rail accident in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Have spoken to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and he is closely monitoring the situation. All possible assistance required is being provided”.
