Yogi Adityanath’s father died in AIIMS, CM won’t attend the last rites of father amid lockdown

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s father Anand Bisht departed on Monday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi and will be cremated in Haridwar at funeral. Adityanath’s said he won’t be able to attend the last rites as he is duty- bound to stay in his state due to battle against the deadly coronavirus.

“I had the ardent wish to urge a glimpse of him at the last word moment. However, following a way of duty towards the state’s 23 crore people during the coronavirus pandemic, I couldn’t do so. For the success of the lockdown and therefore the strategy to defeat the novel coronavirus pandemic, i will be able to be unable to attend the last rites on April 21,” Adityanath said in a statement.

“I am deeply saddened by the demise of my respected father. He instilled in me the values of honesty, hardwork and selfless service for public welfare in childhood itself,” Adityanath said.

Bisht, 89, retired in the year 1991 as a forest ranger. He was admitted to the gastroenterology department, AIIMS after his health deteriorated .His condition was critical. He died of multi-organ failure, sources at the hospital said. Bisht was admitted to the hospital since March 13 and was on ventilator support in the intensive care unit (ICU).

As per the Awanish Awasthi,Additional Chief Secretary (Home) , “Honourable CM’s father left for his heavenly abode at 10.44 am. Our deepest condolences,” said in a statement”.
Adityanath urged his mother and acquaintance to observe lockdown and appealed for minimal presence of people during his father’s funeral.

He was suffering from liver and kidney-related issues. He was admitted to the hospital due to severeliver infection, a doctor said. He also sustained critically low blood pressure, extreme dehydration and accute infection.

It was during meeting with officials when Adityanath sad news of his father’s demise reached. Even after that he continued with a meeting officials to whom he commanded to make certain that students of Uttar Pradesh who came back from Kota are quarrantined in their homes.

The meeting was conducted at Adityanath’s office in the Lok Bhavan in Lucknow.
Several political leaders and diplomats condoled the Bisht’s demise. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, state assembly speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit and also Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have paid the respect and condoled the Bisht’s demise.
Union Minister Smriti Irani also commiserated on Bisht’s death.

“My heartfelt condolences at the passing away of Anand Singh Bisht ji, father of UP CM Yogi Adityanath ji. May his soul rest in peace. May God give Yogi ji and his family members strength to bear the loss,” Kamal Nath tweeted.
