A group of ministers along led by Home minister Amit Shah met today to discuss several issues that the government faces and has proposed increasing the Minimum selling price of Sugar from Rs 2 to 33 per kg so that pending dues from sugarcane mills clear up.
The group of ministers in the meeting included Nirmala Sitharaman, Narendra Singh Tomar, Piyush Goyal, Ram Paswan along with others .
The dues pending go upto 20,000 crores. The proposal comes from the recommendation of Niti ayog.
The government will also reconsider options in reference to this if increasing MSP does not yield favourable results.
The meeting members now ask the food ministry to move up the Cabinet issue so that necessary steps can take place.
The government is trying to work hard to clear all dues from all sectors and ensure efficient work with security amongst the pandemic.
