Bennett University To Hold Its First Ever Online Conference for “Combat Covid-19:Biotech To The Rescue”

The Bennett University which was established in 2016 by Times of India Groups held its first online conference with the theme “Combating Covid-19 Biotech to the rescue” on 16 April 2020. The conference was held by the Biotechnology department of the school of Engineering & Applied sciences. This is going to be the second conference organized by the university in less than a week. The Indian university whose goal is to make persons “ life and career ready” held its first conference on April 9th still over Covid-19 except that the theme was Global online conference on Covid-19:Fallout and future. The Online conference was hosted by the times school of Media in the university. It featured other fields like Mass communication, Technology, Public policy and Media.

K. Vijay Raghavan, The central government’s principal scientific advisor in his address on Thursday on the online conference said that digital teaching of covid-19 cases may be an effective tool after the lockdown while also confirming that India has over 150 site for testing of the deadly virus. The conference was divided into six sessions and featured Diagnostics and testing, vaccines development and delivery, Therapeutics, Nutrition and public health and others. The aim of this conference was to impact technological interventions and how they can be speed up to curb the spread of the virus and cure patients. The conference brought together global and Indian scientists , policy makers, healthcare professionals and industrialists. The Bennett university currently has 2,500 students studying different courses.

In Vijay Raghavan speech he said that in India after identifying a Covid-19 case, contact teaching is being done to know how many people the patient has come in contact with. He also talked about the lockdown being lifted so as to get on with economic activities. A mobile app has been set up to help track coronavirus patients and also alerts people of when a Covid-19 patient is closeby.
