Amitabh Bachchan, the Bollywood superstar has recently arranged 12000 relief coupons for the daily wage workers of Tollywood. Each of the coupons is worth 1500 rupees and can be redeemed online.
The very famous South actor, Chiranjeevi had initiated the cause and began a Corona Crisis Charity for the daily wage workers of Tollywood who have taken a great blow, financially with the current lockdown scenario due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. A Corona Crisis special song was also released on YouTube featuring various South actors.
The South actor, Chiranjeevi, took to twitter and thanked Mr Amitabh Bachchan for his
contribution to the cause. In the tweet he wrote, “Amit ji @SrBachchan has arranged 12000 Corona Relief Coupons of Rs1500 each to be distributed to the Daily wage Film workers in the Telugu States from the proceeds of #Family. A BIG THANK YOU to ‘BIG B’ for this wonderful initiative. These coupons can be redeemed at #BigBazaar stores.” along with a screenshot collage from their recent short film.
The funds for the coupons have come from the proceeds of his recent short film- ‘Family’ in which both, Amitabh Bachchan and Chiranjeevi appeared alongside many other actors and actresses from the film industries from all around the country. The short film was virtually directed by Prasoon Pandey and it was mainly aimed to spread awareness about the novel coronavirus pandemic and urge people to stay at home.
All of the actors shot their scenes in their respective houses. Some of the actors which
appeared in the short film were- Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Ranbir Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh,
Rajinikanth, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, Alia Bhatt and Mammootty among others. The video was appreciated by the fans and excessively shared on social media.
“We have all come together and teamed up with sponsors and TV channels to raise funds. And this fund will be distributed to our workers and daily wage earners to provide them with some relief in these tough times,” Amitabh Bachchan had said at the end of the video.
Amitabh Bachchan and Chiranjeevi have also worked together in the 2019 Telugu film, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. While Chiranjeevi played the lead role of emperor Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, Amitabh appeared in an extended cameo as Guru Gosayi Venkanna.
Numerous celebs from the film industry have been donating to the Corona Crisis Charity to extend a helping hand to the film industry. Kajal Aggarwal is the latest celeb to help with the cause with a donation of 2 Lakh rupees. The daily-wage workers have lost their jobs due to the ong lockdown. Volunteers of the Corona Crisis Charity have also begun delivering groceries to those in need.
