Future American fantasy film Harold and the Purple Crayon is being helped by Carlos Saldanha, who is making his live-action directing debut. The film will star Zachary Levi, Lil Rel Howery, Zooey Deschanel, Ravi Patel, Camille Guaty, Tanya Reynolds, and Pete Gardner and is based on Crockett Johnson’s 1955 children’s novel of the same name.
On August 2, 2024, Sony Pictures Releasing will distribute the movie under its Columbia Pictures label in theatres across the country.
Harold, a little child, sets out on a fantastic quest with the aid of his purple crayon.
The film’s score is being written by Batu Sener, a longtime collaborator of John Powell’s with Saldanha who has contributed extra music to his film scores. At CinemaCon in April 2022, Sony Pictures included a preview of the movie in a sizzle reel of forthcoming films.
