In 2023, James Mangold will helm the action-adventure movie Diana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which he will also co-write with Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth, and David Koepp. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures distributed the picture, which was made by Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm Ltd. The fifth and final entry in the Indiana Jones film series, the movie is a sequel to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).
Harrison Ford plays Indiana Jones in the movie, which marks the end of his Indiana Jones saga. Along with new cast members including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen, John Rhys-Davies reprises his role as Sallah from prior films.
In 1944, American explorer and archaeologist Indiana Jones aids Nazi Jürgen Voller in preventing Nazi Colleague Basil Shaw from getting a mysterious dial known as the Antikythera. In 1969, 25 years later, Jones is unhappy about the fact that the United States government has enlisted former Nazis to aid in defeating the Soviet Union in the race to space. He has grown somewhat resentful as a result of his wife Marion’s impending divorce and the impending retirement from his teaching profession. He travels with Helena Shaw, Basil’s daughter, who is his goddaughter, while he searches for the Dial. Meanwhile, Voller, an ex-Nazi who is now part of NASA and the Apollo Moon-landing programme, wants to change the world as he sees appropriate.
