Hlubi Mboya (Dora’s Peace), Erica Wessels (Die Stropers), and Deon Lotz star in Donovan Marsh’s film, which is set against the tense dying days of Apartheid (Wallander).
The film is based on true events that occurred in the 1980s in South Africa. The story follows a special crimes investigator and the unlikely formation of a bond between a cop and a serial killer as they race against the clock to bring down a global child sex trafficking network centred on a notorious human trafficking ring that involved, among others, powerful politicians. Nthibah Pictures, a South African production company with a Los Angeles office, is behind the project.
Simon Swart, Wayne Fitzjohn, Jozua Malherbe, and Lucia Mayer-Marais are the producers. On May 14, the film will be released worldwide on Netflix.
Nthibah Pictures’ Simon Swart said, “This distribution partnership with Netflix is kismet, as they share our goal of bringing unique diverse South African voices to global audiences.” Through Netflix, Donovan and the creative team created something deeply moving and atmospheric, with a strong social message that will gain greater awareness and social impact.
