Pinocchio is an upcoming American musical fantasy film directed by Robert Zemeckis from a screenplay written by Robert Zemeckis and Chris Weitz. The film is a live-action adaptation of Walt Disney’s 1940 animated film of the same name which is based on the 1883 Italian book, The Adventures of Pinocchio written by Carlo Collodi.
In an Italian village, Geppetto is a kindhearted and lonely Italian woodcarver and toymaker who builds Pinocchio to stave off his loneliness and raises him as if he were his own son. The Blue Fairy brings the wooden puppet Pinocchio to life and promises to turn him into a real boy if he proves himself to be brave, truthful and selfless. Pinocchio seeks to live a life of adventure and he constantly lies which makes his nose appear longer than anatomically possible and gives him a comedic appearance.
The producers are Robert Zemeckis, Milan, Derek Hogue, Andrew Milano, Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz under Walt Disney Pictures, Depth of Field Studios and ImageMovers.
