Germany’s Prompt And Widespread Testing Have Been Credited With Slowing Of Corona Virus Spread In The Nation

Germany’s prompt and effective widespread testing of Corona virus has dramatically reduced the spread of the virus. Germany is currently having a very low death rate from the deadly virus which makes Germany one of the countries with the lowest rates in the World. On 27 January, in Munich, Bavaria Covid-19 was first confirmed in Germany. Dr. Peter Drobac said “Germany is a great example of why the World Health Organization keeps emphasizing “Test, test, test”.

Reinhard Busse, head of department in Berlin university of Technology said “ At the beginning we had relatively few cases , when it came to finding them and isolating them, we did quite well in Germany”. Reports confirmed that once a person tested positive everyone on their contacts were tested and quarantined immediately. Most of the confirmed cases of the virus in Germany are higher in younger people rather than the elderly. Germany is definitely one of the countries who did things right from the beginning. Germany has also promoted social distancing, closed down schools, shops, Restaurants and even sports facilities.

The Guardian reported that scientists told the government it had to increase testing from 500,000 per week to 200,000 every day. Germany has 620.8 hospital care beds per 100,000 of the population which means it will be able to handle it’s infected persons and health care system effectively. A huge interest in why Germany’s death rate has been slow has been raised world wide. Germany’s laboratories complained about the obstacles faced like the federal system not contributing to inefficient gathering of data. They also complain about lack of staff and materials.

“We are working around the clock in a shift system, including on weekends. Our main bottle necks are staffs many of whom have young children and are affected by schools and Nursery closure and supplies from industry. Around the world we are only five or six big suppliers for the materials that we need”. Evangelos Kotsopoulos, head of ALM said.
