Govt orders domestic Flights to restart from May 25 in a ‘graded manner’

Indian authority recently informed that they are in process of restarting the home flights as well as civil aviation operation from 25 May in a ‘degraded manner’. The customary operation procedure will be based on points for passengers movement.

In a tweet civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, “Home civil aviation operation will recommence in a calibrated method from 25 May. All airports and air carriers are being known to be prepared for operations from 25 May. SOPs for passenger motion additionally being individually issued by the ministry.”

This is another relaxation given by the federal government amid lockdown 4.0 due to coronavirus. Earlier, Puri told that flight operation is ready to start soon whenever state governments would be able to open their airports. He added that decision cannot be taken by centre without states consent.

Aviation minister in a tweet shed light on the matter and said, “it’s not up to @MoCA_GoI or centre alone to determine on resuming home flights within the spirit of cooperative federalism, the govt. of states place these flights will take-off & land ought to be prepared to permit civil aviation operations.”

Business flight operations within India have been stopped since March 25 in the wake of nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus spread. Govt. has already eased restrictions by allowing taxis, auto-rickshaw and buses to run on the road. However, flight providers are not allowed till month end except cargo, medical evacuation and some particular flights.

The Airport Authority provided “graded method” by issuing pointers to restart flights. Passengers must strictly follow social distancing norms that include maintaining distance not less than four feet with co-passengers and compulsory for all to wear a mask whenever operation resumes.
