IforIndia virtual concert raised over Rs.52 crore and still counting, celebrities expressed gratitude

The Ifor India virtual concert featuring 85 celebrities has raised Rs 52 crore for Coronavirus relief fund, becoming the biggest live fundraiser event Facebook.
Bollywood filmmakers Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar’s virtual concert, which beamed on Facebook on Sunday (May 3) evening, has turned out to be a big success.

Taking to Twitter, filmmaker Karan Johar, on Monday, shared an image according to which the concert had become the world’s biggest live fundraiser on Facebook by raising Rs 4.3 crore online (and counting) with donations from corporate and philanthropists amounting to Rs 47.77 crore, and counting. I for India continues to urge overwhelming attention and support from the planet over. 100% of proceeds go to GiveIndia for COVID-19 relief work.”

Several Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif expressed gratitude to the fans for watching the virtual concert on Facebook and contributing their bit to the noble cause.

SRK turned singer for the concert and even performed with his son AbRam Khan. Sharing a video of his performance, the actor wrote-
“Sab Sahi Ho Jaayega. Extremely grateful to #IforIndia, @badboyshah and @cacklerraj for music, lyrics & for working overnight. thank u Sunil for the edit. All so that I could sing. Ab Bhai, lockdown mein Mujhe gaate hue Bhi jhelna padhega. Abram is saying ‘papa enough now!’ Par sab Sahi ho jaayega!”

On the other hand, Akshay Kumar wrote-
“From our hearts to yours. Thank you for watching. Thank you for responding. Thank you for donating. I for India started out as a concert. But it can be a movement. Let’s continue to build a safe India. A healthy India. A strong India. I for India. Please continue to donate.”
