India to exit lockdown from tomorrow, Everything you need to know about Unlock 1

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued guidelines for a phased-wise reopening of the economy from June 1. Labelled as ‘Unlock 1’, as per the new rules religious places, shopping malls, hotels and restaurants are allowed to open from June 8. All activities prohibited earlier in areas outside containment zones are decided to allow by Government in a phased manner.

The list of activities that will remain prohibited throughout India from June 1 are as follows:-

International flights

Metro train services

Cinema halls, gyms, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars and auditoriums, assembly halls, etc.

Volumnated gatherings like those concerning social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious, etc.

(The opening dates of above activities would be decided in the third phase depending on the transmission of coronavirus.)

For all non-essential activities, night curfew would continue to remain in force, on the movement of individuals. The timings for night curfew is from 9 pm-5 am.

Schools, colleges, educational/ training/ coaching institutions etc., are going to be opened only after consulting state governments and union territories, who have been asked to take feedbacks from parents, institutions and other stakeholders. The decision regarding the re-opening of these institutions will be taken in July based on the feedback.
