As said by a Railway spokesperson RD Bajpai, these records of the passenger’s destination will help in tracing them if they get infected with COVID-19 later.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website has adopted this procedure and made it important to include a destination address for any kind of booking from 13th May onwards.

All the people are required to fill in their accurate address while booking for tickets online. This was made mandatory after it was discovered that several passengers travelling earlier were found positive for this virus.

It is also worth noting, that if anyone is found to be infected with coronavirus before boarding the train, they will not be allowed to travel any longer. A person with recognisable symptoms such as high temperature will also be held back for further confirming tests.

If one is not able to depart after booking a ticket online, he/she will be guaranteed to get a refund for their ticket by IRCTC.

All these measures are being taken in interest of the citizens by the government and its officials to fight against Coronavirus.
