Karisma Kapoor was born on 25 June 1974, she belongs to the Kapoor clan known as the first family of Hindi films. The women of the Kapoor family do not act in films. In true sense, Karisma Kapoor is the first successful female artist of this Kapoor family. Karishma’s nickname is ‘Lolo’.
Karishma Kapoor is quite active on her social media. On Thursday she shared her recent picture in which she is sitting in her balcony with a cup of green tea (looks like). And she is wearing very casual clothes, a black tee with “love simple things” written on it with blue distress jeans. Also, she is in a very natural non- makeup look. She captioned her photo with the same quotation written on her tee.
Talking about starting the career of Karishma Kapoor, she was being planned to launch with Bobby Deol, but Bobby had time to start the film so Karishma did not think it was right to wait and started her film career with Premi Kaidi (1991). When Karisma entered Bollywood, a lot of jokes was made about her looks. Some people called her Lady Randhir Kapoor and some said that she looks like a boy.
Despite criticism for the look, the makers were ready to sign Karishma. The reason behind signing was because she was from the Kapoor family. ‘Premi Kaidi’ was successful and in 1992 Karisma 6 films were released.
Karisma’s second film was ‘Police Officer’ in which she was a heroine with Jackie Shroff. In Raja Babu (1994), the pair of Karisma and Govinda was very well-liked. After this, both of them did many films which were highly successful at the box office. Karisma acted in movies with all the popular and best actors of that time, like Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Sunny Deol, Govinda, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Jackie Shroff and many more.

Raja Hindustani (1996) became the biggest box office hit of Karisma’s career in industry. Before Karishma, Aishwarya Rai was supposed to act in the movie, but later Karisma replaced her. In this, her intimate scene with Aamir was quite popular.
David Dhawan considered Karishma as his lucky charm. Karisma in Dhawan’s movies like Raja Babu, Andaz, Coolie No.1, Judwa, Hero No.1, Biwi No 1, Hasina Maan Jayegi, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, Chal Mere Bhai, most of them were biggest box office hits of that time.
Karisma, who performed brilliantly in films like Zubeidaa, Raja Hindustani, Dil To Pagal Hai, Fiza, showed that she can also perform well if given a chance. Despite acting in a smaller role than other actors in the movie like Dil To Pagal Hai with Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit, Karishma performed so well in the movie that she won National Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film.
Along with that Karishma received the Best Actress Award for the movies Raja Hindustani and Fiza. Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for Dil To Pagal Hai and Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for Zubeidaa.
In 2003, Karisma married industrialist Sanjay Kapoor. Karisma and Sanjay have a daughter, Adhara and a son Kian. After a few years of marriage, her relationship with husband got ruined. Despite many attempts, when the relationship did not improve, they decided to divorce. Both got divorced in 2016.
After marriage, Karisma had stopped working in films and got busy with family life. She returned to films with ‘Dangerous Ishq’ in 2012, but the film gets flopped badly at the box office. Karishma also did a TV serial in 2003 titled ‘Karishma’ in which she had a double role. She appeared as a judge in a TV show called Aaja Mahi Way and Nach Baliye. Karisma considers her sister Kareena Kapoor as her best friend.
