Manish Sisodia said private schools in Delhi can only charge tuition fees amid lockdown, issues guidelines for the school

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, on Friday, declared in a virtual conferey that no school (including the private ones) will be allowed to make a fee hike amidst this lockdown and only tuition fee can be waivered until the resuming of regular school. He stressed on the fact that no other charges, for instance, transportation fee, annual fee or fees for other variegated purposes should be imposed till the end of the lockdown till May 3.

Sisodia, who is also the Education Minister of the national capital, said that the schools cannot overburden the parents to meet up with expenses of school transports, since they are not in service since the lockdown came into effect.

He explained thoroughly that fee hikes in private educational institutes will not be approved of without the prior permission from the Government. Besides, the school administration has been instructed to collect tuition fees on a monthly basis and not demand three months waiver at once.

All the schools have been commanded to pay full salaries to their both teaching and non-teaching staff timely. They should make headway towards their parent organisation if they face a shortage of funds.
Stringent measures will be taken against those violating the orders under Delhi School Education Act and National Disaster Management Act. The AAP Minister also assured students and parents that no one will be refrained from attending online classes even if they are unable to pay their fees on time.

Delhi has been marked as one of the hotspots of COVID-19 in the country. 1707 cases have been confirmed in the capital city of India with 42 deaths.
