Mank is a 2020 American Biographical Drama movie about screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz and his development of the screenplay for Citizen Kane. The film is directed by David Fincher starring Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Arliss Howard, Tom Pelphrey, Sam Troughton, Ferdinand Kingsley, Tom Burke, Charles Dance, Monika Gossman and Jamie McShane.
Mank had a limited theatrical release on 13th November 2020. It began streaming on Netflix on 4th December 2020. The film has received positive reviews from critics, who praised the direction, cinematography, musical scores, production values, screenplay as well as the performances of every character present.
The incredibly dense film was officially announced in July 2019. The screenplay was initially written by Fincher’s Dad, Jack Fincher prior to his demise in 2003. It was originally going to be Fincher’s follow up to The Game. Viewers are advised to watch Citizen Kane before feasting their eyes on the MANK. Citizen Kane is streaming free on HBO Max.
