Delhi has been in a state of unrest for the past few days owing to the protests by the farmers at
the borders against the Government over the passing of three central farm laws.
While only the Punjab film industry was extending their support at first, the Bollywood industry
has also started showing their support for the farmers, the very recent one being Preity Zinta.
Preity took up the issue on her Twitter handle, saying her “heart goes out to the farmers and
their families” who have been relentlessly protesting in these extreme conditions. The actor
shared a picture of the farmers protesting at the borders of Delhi and called them “soldiers of
the soil”. She also tweeted that she hopes “the talks between the farmers and the government
yield positive results soon and all is resolved”.
Many B-town actors such as Sonam K Ahuja, Sonu Sood, Divyendu Sharma and Parineeti
Chopra have shared posts on their Twitter and Instagram handles lending their voice in support
of the farmers.
Meanwhile, the protesting farmers have called for a “Bharat Bandh” on Tuesday, December 8th,
and will be meeting the central leadership on Wednesday.
