Ranveer Singh was active on social media in the starting of the lockdown but in the meantime, he has not been very active.
Recently, the Gully Boy actor shared a video about the unique way of interpretation of music through sign language for the hearing impaired people. With his music label IncInk Records, actor Ranveer Singh is trying his best to create music for people with hearing impairment.
With the video, Ranveer wrote, “This is our first sign language video on @ntnmshra’s track ‘#Vartalap’ with the hope that the track will trigger more conversations related to making Indian Sign Language the 23rd official language of India. Do give it a listen and we hope you like it.”
The video contains the tracks of Nitin Mishra aka Spitfire, the writer and composer of the hit song Asli Hip Hop (featured in Gully Boy), performed his song Vartalap alongside a sign language interpreter, Shabina Mohammed Choudhary for the benefit of the hearing impaired audience during one of the episodes of hit hip hop reality show MTV Hustle.
Spitfire says, “Hip-hop music is for everyone… and the soul of rap music lies in its poetry. Vartalap is my favourite of the songs I’ve written so far. I want my poetry to go to places and I think that sign language interpretation is another unique way to reach out to more and more people. I thank Shabina for helping me spread my message.”
Talking about the initiative Ranveer said, “I can’t imagine my life without songs, and there are so many people who don’t have the option of experiencing music at all! We wanted to attempt to change that. We want to translate our art in a way so those who cannot hear can somehow still consume it; even if they can’t hear our songs but can in this manner see what we are trying to say with our music and maybe enjoy it, that’s all we want. Every single thing we do at IncInk is all heart.”
Ranveer launched the music label with filmmaker Navzar Eranee in March.
