“The Umbrella Academy” star Elliot Page, has officially come out as transgender through a wholehearted post on Twitter. Announcing his pronouns as “he/they”, the actor extends his gratitude to the people who have supported and inspired him through this journey to “finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self”.
The 33-year-old actor, formerly known as Elliot Page, first came out as gay on February 14, 2014, during a human rights campaign speech in Las Vegas. He married Canadian dancer Emma Portner in 2018.
Despite his pride and happiness in coming out, he also shares his fear of receiving backlash. The actor calls out politicians who spread hostility towards the Trans community saying “you have blood on your hands” and also said that he would not be silent in the face of their attacks.
“I love that I am Trans. And I love that I am Queer”, the actor states at the end of his letter, words which powerfully resonate with the LGBTQ Community.
The page has received an Oscar nomination for his work in “Juno” and has been a part of incredible, award-winning films such as “Inception”, the “X-Men series” and the hit Netflix series “The Umbrella Academy”, which has now been renewed for season 3.
