The actor Tom Hanks along with her wife Rita Wilson were infected by the corona virus on March 11 while they were in Australia for work. Veteran star Tom Hanks, was infected with coronavirus in March, presented the first ever experimental “Saturday Night Live At Home” special first quarantine version’ in which he addressed why his diagnosis had made him desire an “American Dad” while he was indoors.
Tom Hanks, one among the primary celebrities to disclose he had the coronavirus. Keeping the safety measures regarding the Covid-19 in mind, the popular late night comedy show replaced its usual live version with a series of pre recorded and remotely performed sets.
When Hank appeared on the screen for the opening monologue, a round of recorded applause, cheers, whistles played out, for which the actor thanked the show engineers.
“its good to be here, though it also very weird to be here hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ at home” Hanks said, speaking from his kitchen. “it’s a strange time and to try and be funny, but trying to be funny is ‘SNL’s whole thing”.
He spoke about his close cropped haircut he said, “was done for a movie”, announced last month and then he and his wife tested positive for the virus. They recuperated while in Australia. Tom Hanks then explained why he was chosen for the hosting duties fr the primary work-from-home ‘SNL’ episode, which aired on April 11.
“i have been the celebrity canary in the coal mine of corona virus and ever since been diagnosed, i have been like America’s dads like never before: since no one wants to be around me anymore and that i make people uncomfortable”, he said.
The actor’s wife Rita Wilson is a singer as well as a song writer, was diagnosed with the corona virus on March 11 while they were in Australia for work. The couple spent a week in isolation at the hospital in the state of Queensland in Australia. After they got discharged from the medical facility, Hanks and Wilson, continued to self-quarantine at a rented range in Australia and returned to the US on March 28. “But they take your temperature in Celsius rather than Fahrenheit. They say, ‘you are36’, which seemed pretty bad to me, but turns out 36 is fine. But 38 is bad, so basically its how Hollywood treats female actors”, Hanks said.
Then the actor said they were doing fine now. “My wife and i are doing fine, we are hunkered down like all this should be. This is the primary time he’d worn suit since March 11. I had only been wearing sweatpants…..There no such things as Saturdays anymore. It’s just today,” he said.
Hanks explained the whole show had been planned by the classmates in quarantine.
“It’ll be different and wired but it will make you laugh like ‘SNL’ does” he promised.He then mimicked in a format of a typical host monologue. “Stay safe,” Hanks said at the top of his monologue, thanking health care workers, grocery workers, and therefore the people fighting the battle against the Covid-19 outbreak.
