There’s no disputing that Anushka Sharma has found true love with legendary cricketer Virat Kohli, but Sabyasachi Mukherjee is her sartorial soulmate. The actress has grown to identify with the couturier’s legacy-rich creations over the years, wearing his extravagant fare on the red carpet for important occasions before ultimately getting married in a line-up that was solely his.
Sharma and Kohli wed in a private ceremony in Italy after much speculation. The bride chose a pastel Sabyasachi suit that dominated Instagram feeds in 2017 to match the picture-perfect Tuscan landscape. The 67 karigars who hand-embroidered the blush-pink lehenga over the course of 32 days used silk thread to create fascinating bird and butterfly designs. With an elegantly draped chanderi safa that matched the colours of Sharma’s bridal lehenga, Kohli enhanced his bride’s ivory sherwani.
All of her rituals used Sabyasachi clothing, including an opulent velvet sari for the engagement and a boho lehenga for the mehendi.
