Wipro designate top Capgemini official as new CEO

Capgemini executive Thierry Delaporte has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and managing director of Wipro. Abidali Neemuchwala will step down from his position on June 1 after four years at the firm citing “family commitment”.

Delaporte was the Chief Operating Officer of Capgemini group and a member of its Group Executive Board.

Thierry has an exceptional leadership track record, strong international exposure, deep strategic expertise, a unique ability to forge long-standing client relationships, and proven experience of driving transformation and managing technological disruption. We believe that Thierry is the right person to lead Wipro in its next phase of growth”, said Rishad Premji, Chairman, Wipro Limited. Delaporte will join the company from July 6.

Wipro is one of the earliest companies that had four topmost executives in charge but has fallen back in the competition by nearly a decade.

Neemuchwala, based in Texas, also faced challenges during his tenure at Wipro. He fought with accretions, client bankruptcies and modifying businesses in India and West Asia over the last four years.
