The organization, Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, has callout 819 artists. Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Hrithik Roshan are also in the list of the guests, and costume designer Neeta Lulla has been also invited.
Some other famous Indian names to receive invitations from the academy of motion pictures arts and science are casting director Nandini Shrikent, documentary filmmakers Nishtha Jain and Amit Madheshiya, visual effects supervisors Vishal Anand and Sandeep Kamal.
It is said that if Hrithik and Alia accept the invitation, they could also be attending the 93rd academy awards. The award function was scheduled to take place in February this year but due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the award function has been cancelled temporarily. It is said that the award function can take place on the 25th of April next year.
Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh’s movie, Gully boy, got a huge response and did very well at the box office as well. The Zoya Akhtar directed “gully boy” made it to India’s official entry for best international feature category at the 2019 Oscars but unfortunately the film had failed to make it to its final five.
Recently we have also seen Milap Zaveri, filmmaker, to appreciate both the Bollywood actors in twitter and wrote: “fabulous well-deserved both Hrithik and Alia are super talented superstars there will be a great addition to the academy”.
The academy decided to rephrase and prioritize the communities and the group of people as it was much needed after facing criticism of male and white dominants. So In a recent statement, the Academy said the new invitees include 45% of women, 36% underrepresented ethnic or racial communities and 49% international artists from 68 countries.
The academy also added that “there are 75 Oscar nominees including 15 winners and 5 recipients of scientific and technical awards. Those who accept the invitation will be on his addition to the academy’s membership in 2020”.
