Kylie Jenner shared a throwback picture of her costume from met gala 2019 on her Instagram story. Kylie did not make much of the appearances due to her pregnancy but her appearance in met gala 2019 stunned everyone. She wore a lilac coloured bespoke Versace gown which clearly took the inspiration from the showgirl side of camp, with a colour coordinating wig which gave an ultimate top-to-toe look. Kylie’s body-tight gown featured small purple sequins arranged in tiny, interlocking loops to resemble mesh against a nude bodysuit, and the neckline resembled the mermaid’s top. The feathery skirt and long/large sleeves once again evoked the old Hollywood Glamour that completely fitted the Camp theme of the gala.
The met gala 2020 was supposed to be organised on the first Monday of May but due to coronavirus pandemic, it has been postponed. 2020 marks the 150th anniversary of the museum and so a theme fitting around the time was “About Time: Fashion and Duration” which will showcase notable works of the museum and archives with a common timeline. Unfortunately, the fashion’s biggest night is the victim of coronavirus pandemic and has been postponed indefinitely. The museum will remain closed ‘until further notice’. Met Spokesperson said, “in deference to this guidance, all programs and events through May 15 will be cancelled or postponed,” including the gala.
