Neha Dhupia, Manushi Chillar, Diana Penty and others take up the #RedDotChallenge, a campaign by UNICEF India to promote period awareness

With a motive to throw light on menstrual hygiene and the importance of practising it, Neha Dhupia took up the red dot challenge.

May 28, 2020, is the Menstrual Hygiene day. The actor Neha Dhupia took to Instagram to participate in red dot initiative. A poem written on menstruation is also posted by her. On accepted period shaming she took the stand. UNESCO took up this initiative with the help of challenge where women uploads picture with a red dot on their palm.

Neha Dhupia took up the initiative and took to Instagram where she uploaded a picture take at home. In the picture, she was showing her palm with a huge red dot on it. She is seen looking away while the focus is on her palm. The picture is a monochrome picture. In the picture, she was wearing a striped kurta. She followed the challenge and the picture was black and white only the dot was seen red in colour.

A video also posted by her. In the video, a woman was reciting the poem and through the poem, she tried to bring the issues and problems faced by various women at the time of their period as a stigma and concept around it.

The poem wants to bring change in the perception of the people the way they perceive periods and also promoting menstrual hygiene. She also mentioned that it the time to take some actions on the same topic as it had been remained unspoken for some period of time.

On sharing the picture she captioned the picture as, “PERiOD: Only 12% of women & girls have access to sanitary menstrual hygiene in India with a majority of them relying on outdated, unhygienic methods during menstruation. @stc_india @UNICEFIndia ‬
