Riddhima Kapoor has been sharing photos with her late father and her family on Instagram. Recently, she took to Instagram stories and shared a photo of her father Rishi Kapoor with wife Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir and Alia, suggesting Alia being part of their family. Along with the throwback, Riddhima also shared a picture of a scrabble board game and wrote, “My dad loved his scrabble! He brought this to New York”.
Even Amitabh Bachchan has talked about Rishi Kapoor’s love for a board game and said that he used to carry them even on film sets. On Rishi Kapoor’s death, we wrote in his blog post, “When there was a time-lapse as the shot got readied during a shoot, he would bring out his playing cards, or at times pull out his rather complicated Bagatelle board and invite others to play … a competition … not just for fun.. a serious competition.” The actor also said about Rishi’s playful nature, he wrote, “His playful attitude on set was infectious … even in the gravest sequences, he would discover that comedic spark and we would all just crack up .. !! Not just on set… If you were with him at any formal event, he would find that little distractive light-hearted gem to expand on and lighten the situation.”
Rishi Kapoor returned to India in 2019 after having a yearlong treatment for leukaemia in New York. He was admitted in the hospital on April 29th after having trouble breathing. He took his last breath on the morning of April 30 in the presence of his close family members. However, Riddhima couldn’t travel back to Mumbai from Delhi in time for his funeral and could join her family only two days later due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Rishi Kapoor was shooting for a movie titled ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ until mid-February, starring Juhi Chawla in the female lead. The directors have assured that they will complete the movie using advance VFX technology.
