Abir Sengupta, with his Hindi directorial debut, wanted to pay tribute to Bollywood. He remembers how he went gaga by all the songs and visuals of Hindi films back in past when he enjoyed his afternoons with movies.
He described how the song, Dil tera, from his film Indoo Ki Jawani, had its conceptions, then he also adds, “As a filmmaker, I am [emotionally attached] to the many classics that have shaped the Hindi film industry. While writing the song sequence, I wanted to pay homage to the iconic looks and sequences from the ’60s to the ’90s.”
This beautiful song takes us back in time while recreating the looks of Sharmila Tagore from Kashmir Ki Kali a film of 1964, Parveen Babi from Namak Halal which is of the year 1982 and Urmila Matondkar in Rangeela a movie from1995!
Abir Sengupta, in order to remain immense faithful to the eras worked with the stylist, Sheetal Sharma who further says, “It is a situational song that imaginatively spans the glorious eras of Hindi cinema. References were drawn from the most iconic look of every decade. We also added a bit of quirk to each theme.”
