Many actors said if I can be bold onscreen, I can be bold with them in person: Mallika Sherawat.

Mallika Sherawat aka Reema Lamba has been on the down-low for quite some time but has come under the radar due to her recent interview with Pinkvilla. She opened up about the industry, her debut, facing the casting couch and mainly her experience with male actors. She started off by telling how she never experienced the real struggle and landed her first two roles in ‘Murder’ and ‘Khwaish’ quite easily. The actress is known for her roles in movies like ‘Hissss‘, which was way ahead of its time but somehow this forwardness ended up in her being judged by not only her audience but also her male co-stars.

Many actors said if I can be bold onscreen, I can be bold with them in person: Mallika Sherawat.

The actress talks about how her role in ‘Murder‘ made her male co-stars not treat her with respect, ‘But after the movies, because Murder was such a bold movie, and that kind of a bold image was established, a lot of male actors started taking a lot of liberties with me, and they said if you can be so bold onscreen, so you can be bold with us in person also‘.

Sherawat then added, ‘They did not differentiate between the onscreen and offscreen persona, so that is where I faced a lot of difficult situations, because I am a very strong woman, and I would tell the male actor, ‘I am sorry, I am not going to compromise’. I haven’t come to Bollywood to compromise, I have come here to make a career. That’s why they have never worked with me.
